I was born in Okinawa, Japan. My family lived there until I was five, and I attended Japanese kindergarten. This picture is of my teacher and me on Field Day. I'm right in step!
My family moved to Michigan, and settled in East Lansing (Go Michigan State!) where I met my husband. We lived in Michigan until 1995 when my husband, son, and I moved to Portland. |
Family
My husband and I have two children who attended C. F. T., Fowler, and Tigard High. Scott graduated from the University of Northern Colorado. He is now in in grad school to become of school psychologist at U. of O. (Go Ducks!) Meredith graduated from University of Oregon in June, and has begun working!
Employment and Education
I worked as a director of live television news in Michigan before our children were born. I was fortunate enough to be able to stay home with our kids for ten years. After volunteering in their classrooms, I saw what a positive impact teachers had on my kids, and realized what a happy environment schools were, so I went back to school to become a teacher. I received a Bachelor's of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from George Fox University in December 2006. I continued on after a few years, and earned a Master's Degree in Elementary Reading and Math from Walden University in 2010. I have taught in the Tigard-Tualatin School District since February 2007, all in kindergarten.
